מוזיאון זה משאיר אותי פעור פה בכל פעם מחדש ונותן אפשרות למפגש עם המקומיים שבאזור 🪵
עם עבודות גילוף עץ מרשימות בגודל ענק ועם דיוק של פרטיי פרטים, מה גם שהאזור מעביר מאוד את התחושה הנפלאה של כרתים ההררית ששווה מאוד לעבור ולבקר- עלות כניסה 5 יורו לאדם, 3 יורו לילדים.

ממשיכים למערת הנטיפים הגדולה והמרשימה ביותר בכרתים הנקראת Sfendoni 🦇
אשר נמצאת בתוך רכס הרים אשר נקרא פסילוריטיס Psiloritis
הנסיעה אל המקום יפהייפיה ומעבירה את התחושה הצלולה של כרתים ההררית
של פנים האי והיא בהחלט חלק מהחוויה מדהימה!
המערה עצמה מרשימה ביותר קיימת למעלה מ 5 מיליון שנה והינה פלא של הטבע 💎
נכנסים אליה בסיור מודרך של 20 דק’ לערך עם מדריך מקומי בעלות של 5-6 יורו לאדם.

אגם קורנאס זו נקודת טבע מופלאה באי כרתים.
זהו למעשה אגם המים המתוקים הגדול ביותר בכל האי אשר נמצא למרגלות הרים וכמו מוסתר על ידם ולכן נקרא גם האגם הנסתר.
הגיעו אל האגם, טיילו על חופו, שיכרו וצאו לסיבוב במקום הקסום הזה בסירות פדאלים אשר מוצעות במקום 🛶.(מאוווד כיף !!)
תוכלו להנות גם כאן באחד מבתי הקפה הנמצאים ממש למרגלות האגם ☕.

בקניון עצמו יש אפשרות לרדת לחצי דרך מטה ודרך כמובן על לתחתיתו 👣, כמובן הקניון יכול להיות עבורכם עצירה לנקודת תצפית בלבד 👀- בכל מקרה זהו מקום מרהיב שנמצא בקרבת מקום ושאסור לפספס.
מעט לאחר שער הכניסה (מדרגות ירידה) משמאלכם תראו כמו קנטינה שמוכרת משקאות קלים ממש לידה נמצאת הכניסה 🥤.

בכניסה לאחר מספר מה של מדרגות תהיה התפצלות של מדרגות היורדות ימינה או שמאלה 👣.
בחרו את גרם מדרגות אשר מובילות בירידה שמאלה, רדו איתן עד למטה והמשיכו עם השביל (תראו מימינכם כמו סלע ענק) עד שתגיעו לכמו בריכות קטנות וקסומות אשר בהם תוכלו להנות מהצל וגם להשתכתשך במים 💦.
חזרו לאחר מכן אם תירצו לנקודת ההתפצלות וביחרו את גרם המדרגות השני אשר יוריד אתכם למטה עד לתחתית הקניון 🧗.
במידה בחרתם לרדת לתחתיתו לכשתגיעו עד הסוף בחרו לפנות שמאלה לבריכה הגדולה שמתחת למפלים ⛲. וגם ימימינה וגם שם תוכלו למצוא כמו בריכות ומפלים קטנים 💧
ונקודות ישיבה על הסלעים שבמקום לזמן מה בכדי לספוג את האווירה המדהימה של המקום העוצמתי והמיוחד הזה ✨.
שימו לב שבתחתית הקניון בחלקים מסויימים צריך יהיה ללכת ולחצות חלוקי נחל בזהירות ⚠️, כי עשוי להיות מעט חלקלק ..

עשו עצירת התרעננות במקום הקסום והפסטורלי הזה אשר ממוקם על גדות נהר פרבלי ובו גשרון קטן אשר חוצה את הנהרת מספר קילומטרים לפני נקודת השפך לים 🌉.
אם תרצו לאכול שם ארוחת צהריים לפני השהייה בחוף זאת אפשרות טובה, יש שם אוכל טוב 🍲.
אפשרות אחרת היא לאכול לאחר מכן במקום נהדר שאציין בהמשך, אך טוב לדעת שבאזור החוף עצמו אין באמת טברנה טובה אלא קיוסק שמוכר סנדוויצ’ים 🥪.

The village of Sissi is a beautiful and pastoral Greek village.

Boat trip to Spinalonga Island 🚢
Decide if you want to take the boat trip to the famous Leper Island in the area (Spinalonga). The experience is nice and the island itself is beautiful.
The stay on the island is between half an hour to an hour, and you can choose to stay a bit longer and return with
another boat of the same company – the cruise takes about 20 minutes each way in the beautiful bays of the area.

The Potters’ Village Margarites – Margarites 🏺
Depart the hotel for a drive to the potters’ village Margarites on the northern coastline hugging the sea.
Margarites is a charming and unique village housing pottery artists, various shops, and galleries, as well as classic Greek village alleys.

The next point I am writing is a wonderful spot on the island located in the village of Axos.
A very impressive site that I highly recommend visiting.
This museum leaves me speechless every time and offers a chance to meet locals in the area 🪵
with impressive giant wood carvings and meticulous detail. The area also beautifully conveys the feeling of mountainous Crete, well worth a visit – entry fee is 5 Euros per person, 3 Euros for children.

Proceed to the largest and most impressive stalactite cave in Crete called Sfendoni 🦇
located within the Psiloritis mountain range.
The drive to the place is beautiful and conveys the clear feeling of mountainous Crete,
the island’s interior, and it is definitely part of the amazing experience!
The cave itself is extremely impressive, existing for over 5 million years and is a wonder of nature 💎
Entry is via a guided tour of about 20 minutes with a local guide at a cost of 5-6 Euros per person.

Lake Kournas is a wonderful natural spot on the island of Crete.
It is actually the largest freshwater lake on the entire island, nestled at the foot of mountains and seemingly hidden by them, hence it is also called the Hidden Lake.
Arrive at the lake, walk on its shore, rent and take a tour of this magical place in the pedal boats offered there 🛶. (Very fun!!)
You can also enjoy one of the cafes located right at the foot of the lake ☕.

Recommendation to eat not necessarily in the taverns on the water’s edge but in one specific one above that overlooks the beauty of the lake from above 🍲, a pastoral and impressive place for lunch (I recommend going to this place even if you don’t eat at the tavern just for the impressive viewpoint of the lake 👀)

Day 4 – South East Crete ☀️
Start your day with a drive of about an hour and fifteen minutes, which essentially crosses 🚗
the island from north to south to a sweet and colorful Greek village called Mirtos 🏘️

towards the south of the district to the Kourtaliotiko Mountain Canyon which essentially bridges the north and south of the Rethymno district, a magical spot on the island ✨.

In the canyon itself, there is an option to descend halfway down and of course all the way to the bottom 👣, although the canyon can simply be a stop for a viewpoint 👀 – either way, it’s a spectacular place nearby that must not be missed.
Slightly after the entrance gate (descending stairs), on your left you will see something like a cantina selling soft drinks, right next to it is the entrance 🥤.

At the entrance, after a number of stairs, there will be a split of stairs descending right or left 👣.
Choose the flight of stairs leading down to the left, follow them to the bottom, and continue with the path (you will see something like a huge rock on your right) until you reach magical little pools where you can enjoy the shade and splash in the water 💦.
Afterward, if you wish, return to the split point and choose the second flight of stairs that will take you down to the bottom of the canyon 🧗.
If you chose to go to the bottom, when you reach the end, choose to turn left to the large pool under the waterfalls ⛲. And also to the right, where you can also find small pools and waterfalls 💧
and seating points on the rocks there for a while to absorb the amazing atmosphere of this powerful and special place ✨.
Note that at the bottom of the canyon in certain parts you will need to walk and cross pebbles carefully ⚠️, as it can be a bit slippery ..
The track is not dangerous at all (many people/families go there), just walk carefully.
Take some time to enjoy this impressive and special place.
From there, proceed to Preveli Beach and the Palm Grove 🌴🌊
One of the most beautiful areas in Crete!
Take a refreshment stop at this magical and pastoral place located on the banks of the Preveli River, featuring a small bridge that crosses the river a few kilometers before the point where it flows into the sea 🌉.
If you want to eat lunch there before spending time at the beach, this is a good option, they have good food 🍲.
Another option is to eat later at a great place I’ll mention later, but it’s good to know that in the beach area itself, there isn’t really a good tavern, just a kiosk selling sandwiches 🥪.

Afterward, proceed to Preveli Beach and the palm grove next to it 🌴🌊.
Note that there are 2 ways to reach this beach. One, in my opinion, is less fun because it involves a descent and then an ascent of many stairs 🧗

The second way involves a bit more driving and then about a 10-minute walk from the parking lot, but the path is more friendly 👣.

When you park in the lot (which also has the kiosk) 🅿️
stand with the sea on your left, and in front of you on the right side of the lot, there will be a small bridge to cross 🌉 (in case you missed it – ask at the cafe next to the lot, but I’m sure you’ll find it).
Continue with the path climbing slightly up until you reach the stairs (not many stairs…) that will take you down to Preveli Beach where you will see the famous rock looking stuck on the left side of the beach and also the river mouth to the sea 🌊💎.
When you reach the beach, turn right onto a walking path of about 10 minutes into the famous palm grove where you can walk along the river itself 🌴👣.
The end point of the walk on this side will be like a large rock behind which you will actually see the mountain canyon you visited in the morning, and beyond this rock, you can no longer walk. (About 10 minutes walk inside from the beach within the grove)
Dedicate some time to staying by the river and also for swimming at the beach and the whole tour there for about two to three hours as you wish ☀️🌊.
Other cool beaches in the area – can be additions or alternatives to Preveli Beach 🏖️
Kalypso Beach – a fjord in itself and considered one of the most unique bays in Crete 🌊✨
